Results for water samples from Amphitheatre Beach that were tested by the Ministry of Environment were positive for cyanobacteria. The samples contained a species of cyanobacteria that can produce toxins.
Blue-green algae were previously confirmed in Ramsey Lake in July of 2012.
When a bloom is visible, avoid using the water for drinking and bathing, or swimming in the area of the bloom.
