Bestech was nominated and selected as Outstanding Partner in the North/East Ontario and Nunavut region for 2012, having substantially exceeded its potential for blood donations based on the number of employees in the organization. The evening featured Lloyd Robertson as Master of Ceremonies and Jody Mitic, who is currently competing on the Amazing Race Canada with his brother, as the keynote speaker.
Canadian Blood Services' Partners for Life is a nationwide program that is designed for corporate and community organizations. By joining the program, organizations make a commitment to save lives by donating blood as a team.
To be involved, the organization must select a program champion who is the main contact and acts as a leader to promote the program and encourage members of the organization to participate. The organization must also set a donation pledge – the lifesaving goal for that year.
Bestech joined the Partners for Life program in early 2012 and immediately started educating its employees about the need for blood.
With a staff complement of approximately 80 people in the Sudbury offices, the Bestech team achieved 42 donations in their first eight months of partnership - an incredible feat for a group of that size, according to Canadian Blood Services.
The Bestech donations compared to organizations with more than triple the employee count, said the company in a news release.
