Algoma-Manitoulin MPP Mike Mantha (NDP) and Sault Ste. Marie MP Bryan Hayes (CPC) will be on hand as guest speakers for the meeting at the Fairmont Inn and Suites Marriott in Sault Ste. Marie. The meeting is being hosted by the Sault Association of Ratepayers.
Representatives of several assocations are expected to be in attendance for the meeting, including members of Greater Sudbury Taxpayers, Sault Association of Ratepayers, Espanola Citizens Group, North Bay Ratepayers Association, Algoma District Ratepayers Association, Manitoulin and the Islands Taxpayers Association, Red Rock Association of Ratepayers, French River Citizens Association, Elliot Lake Seniors Action Group and Oshawa Association of Ratepayers.
These regional meetings began in August 2011, said a release from the Greater Sudbury Taxpayers Association, when the members of the Sault Association of Ratepayers and Espanola Citizens Group were hosted in Sudbury by the GSTA. The goal was “to identify, and discuss mutual interests, and concerns with respect to issues of municipal governance, and discuss ways of improving municipal governance.”
Since that meeting, participation has grown from three groups to 10.
