The event's organizer, Heather Tarnopolsky, was inspired to bring this walk to Sudbury four years ago, while in a waiting room at the hospital. Tarnopolsky said she was amazed to find our Sudbury did not hold a walk, so she planned one herself.
“I wanted to educate people and raise funds for treatment and research into kidney disease,” she said.
Last year, the walk raised about $7,500, while this year about $6,000 was raised, although online donations have yet to be factored in.
The Tait family raised the most money for the walk, collecting more than $3,000.
