The Greater Sudbury Development Corporation is a not-for-profit “catalyst for local economic development initiatives and supports the attraction, development and retention of business in the community,” the GSDC said in a release Thursday.
It works to grow Sudbury's economy by focusing on five sectors: mining, mining supply and services; advanced education, research and innovation; tourism; health services expertise; and arts and culture.
Its board of directors meets for a few hours once a month at 11:30 a.m. for. Board members are unpaid volunteers. The new board member's term would run until June 2016.
