The city pays a contractor a significant amount money to keep the site covered and odours to a minimum, Kett said. Yet residents have recently had to put up with strong odours from the dump.
"We are paying this contractor extra money," Kett said. "We've had enough of this. That's not right."
City staff replied they are aware of the problems and have met with the contractor about it already. A followup meeting is also planned.
Kett also took issue with city contractors who fail to fully complete work, leaving a mess behind.
Why can't we get them to complete “the last two per cent” of the job, he asked.
Staff responded that it's more than just a problem with contractors and a committee has been set up do deal with the issue. A report from the committee is expected in December.
