Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario (CSCNO) is evaluating its schools in Hanmer and Val Thérèse to see if its infrastructure needs to be updated.

As part of this process, CSCNO will undertake a feasibility study of École St-Joseph, École Ste-Thérèse and École Notre-Dame.

The goal is to maximize the use of space, offer quality learning facilities while ensuring that all students continue to have access to the best French Catholic programming possible in quality school facilities.

The board will host a public information session with its school communities Nov. 11 at 6:30 p.m. in the gymnasium of École St-Joseph (1215 St-Anthony St., Hanmer). This session will take place in French.

“The CSCNO is committed to offering Valley East’s French-language Catholic inhabitants quality learning spaces designed to meet the academic, cultural and spiritual needs of our students,” said CSCNO president Marcel Montpellier, in a press release.

“This session will enable citizens to become familiar with different possible options and offer their input.”

Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario (CSCNO) operates four elementary schools in Valley East. École Notre-Dame (Hamner) is a JK to Grade 8 school while École St-Joseph (Hanmer) has students from JK to Grade 3 and École Ste-Thérèse (Val Thérèse) counts grade 4 to 8 students.

The area is also served by École Jean-Paul II (Val Caron) and École secondaire catholique l’Horizon (Val Caron).
