Greater Sudbury Police Service said the officer depicted in a video showing the heroic efforts of several residents to extract a woman from a car that ended up on its roof in water is from the CP Police.

"Greater Sudbury Police Service is aware of a video circulating on Youtube and Facebook (and other media/social media pages) in relation to the fatal single motor vehicle collision which occurred on Nov. 28 where four men came to a woman’s rescue," GSPS said in a news release.

"The video also depicts an officer arriving on scene, standing by and talking on what may be a cellphone or police radio. Inquiries to the police service, as well as comments by bloggers in relation to the video insinuate that the officer is a member of the Greater Sudbury Police Service. We have determined that the officer in the video is a member of the CP Police."

Northern Life has learned that the woman involved in a rollover crash on MR 80 yesterday has passed away from her injuries.

Const. Meghan O'Malley with the Greater Sudbury Police Service confirmed a short time ago that the woman, who has been identified as Lise Levac, 62, of Sudbury, succumbed to her injuries this morning.

Although Northern Life does have video of bystanders rescuing the woman from her vehicle, shot by an eyewitness and posted to YouTube for a short time, we have pulled the video from the website.

"Given the tragic outcome of this incident, the only responsible thing for us to do is to show respect for the victim's family at this time and remove the video from our website," said Mark Gentili, Northern Life managing editor.
