House fire leaves Skead family with nothing

The community of Skead is rallying around the Steen family, which lost everything when fire gutted their home on Higgins Road on Dec. 18.

The community of Skead is rallying around the Steen family, which lost everything when fire gutted their home on Higgins Road on Dec. 18.

While everyone made it out alive and the family is healthy, they were left with only the clothes on their back, said a news release from the Skead Community Centre.

“Please show your community support and offer some assistance wherever and however you can.”

While all donations are being accepted, specific items are being sought:

Rose: shirt/pant size medium;
Dawson: shirt size M/L and pants size 33waist 34 inseam;
Taylor — girl: size 8/10, also needs running shoes, size 2;
Leland — boy: size 7/8 (adjustable waist), also needs running shoes, size 1;
Noah — boy: size 2T, also needs shoes size 8

Leland lost his hockey equipment in the fire. Anyone with any used or extra hockey gear that would fit a boy size 7/8 is asked to please donate.

Anyone who is interested in dropping off monetary donations can do so at
17 Poupore Rd. East in Skead. Receipts can be written.
