Two fires in two days cause more than $1.5M in damage

Twenty-one firefighters responded to the fire, which originated in a vehicle located in the building's garage.

No one was injured in the fire.

However, one person was left homeless on New Year's Day when fire caused about $30,000 in damage to an apartment on Paris Street.

A total of 16 firefighters responded to the fire, with fire damage listed as moderate and smoke damage listed as severe.

In its safety message, Greater Sudbury Fire Services warns that careless smoking is the leading cause of fire deaths.
