One person killed in Highway 17 collision

UPDATE: The OPP confirmed the male driver of a car was killed in the collision on Highway 17, which occured at around 5 p.m. Thursday. The car collided head on with a pick-up truck just west of the Highway 537 junction, in Wahnapitae.

UPDATE:

The OPP confirmed the male driver of a car was killed in the collision on Highway 17, which occured at around 5 p.m. Thursday.

 

The car collided head on with a pick-up truck just west of the Highway 537 junction, in Wahnapitae. 


The three occupants of the pick-up were treated at Health Sciences North for minor injuries.

The highway was closed for several hours and re-opened to traffic at 10:53 p.m.

Only hours after a fatal collision on Highway 69, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) reported another person was killed in a crash on Highway 17, near Wahnapitae. 


OPP Const. Rob St. Marseille confirmed there was one fatality in the collision, but could not provide any further details.

Highway 17 has been closed at Wahnapitae due to the collision.
