Starting today, residents of Greater Sudbury are invited to sign a banner for local Olympians and Paralympians who will be competing in the 2014 Olympic Winter Games next month in Sochi, Russia.

"Greater Sudbury has always produced talented, world-class athletes who have inspired pride across Canada, and I know the group representing Greater Sudbury in 2014 will continue that tradition," said Mayor Marianne Matichuk. "As our athletes prepare for Russia, they will need the support of their community, and I encourage everyone to come and demonstrate their support."

The banner will be available for signing in the main foyer of Tom Davies Square from Monday to Friday during regular business hours.

The banner will remain available until Jan. 31, and will then be forwarded on behalf of the City of Greater Sudbury to Sochi for the athletes to view.
