It seems someone has tried to perpretrate a hoax or have a little fun with Sudbury media today. An email (full text below) circulated this morning, purporting to announce that the Sudbury Federal Liberal Riding Association was unveiling its candidate for the next federal election in 2015.

"The Sudbury Federal Liberal Riding Association, Gerry Lougheed Jr., Paul Lefebvre and a very special guest invite all public and media to meet the candidate to be Sudbury's next elected leader," the message reads in part.

Lougheed said he is not hosting any announcement in his parking lot on Thursday.
"We're not. Absolutely not," he said, adding with a laugh, "but I am wondering who that special guest was supposed to be."

Despite a report that that secret candidate was Ian Davidson, that has been confirmed to be false.

The email was circulated from the address [email protected].
