Eric Caetano, a teacher and hockey referee in Greater Sudbury, launched the “Blowing the Whistle for Kid’s Care” campaign this past December that raised $1,000 for children’s care at Health Sciences North.

To raise these funds, whenever Caetano refereed a game, he and a team of volunteers collected donations from the crowd.

Caetano says the goal to raise $500 was surpassed with the financial support of the community, fellow officials and the Copper Cliff Minor Hockey Association.
