Award-winning health reporter to address HSN

André Picard, an award-winning public health reporter and columnist with the Globe and Mail, will be the keynote speaker at Health Sciences North's annual general meeting.

Picard will discuss how hospitals need to adapt in order to better meet the health care challenges of the future.

The annual general meeting will be held Thursday, June 19 at the Ramsey Lake health Centre.

“Mr. Picard is an outstanding journalist with a keen sense and awareness of the strengths, weaknesses, and challenges facing our health care system in Canada, “said Dr. Denis Roy, Health Science North's president and CEO, in a release. “Based on his years of experience in health care reporting, he has valuable insights to share with us about how we can be a leading hospital of the future.”

Picard has won numerous awards and accolades for his health care journalism, including the Michener Award for Meritorious Public Service Journalism, the Canadian Policy Research Award, the 2002 Centennial Prize of the Pan-American Health Organization as the top public health reporter in the Americas, the Canadian Nurses’ Association Award of excellence for health care reporting, and four nominations for the National Newspaper Awards.
