When Kapuskasing resident Aime Poisson visited OLG Slots at Sudbury Downs on Feb. 16, he didn’t know he’d leave a big winner, never mind a record breaker.

Poisson was playing a Wheel of Fortune slot machine when the lights and music went off — netting him $165,096.53, the biggest win to ever occur on the gaming floor of OLG Slots at Sudbury Downs.

“At first I thought I won $1,600, but even then, I shook my head, thinking it wasn’t possible,” said Poisson. “When the slot attendant told me I had actually won the jackpot, I was very surprised.”

Poisson is a Winner’s Circle Rewards member and visits OLG Slots at Sudbury Downs two or three times a year. Last year, he won $5,000 playing the slots.

The big winner has one very specific purchase in mind.

“I will treat myself to a new car. I’m looking for a white Lincoln — with lots of chrome. I’ve already visited the dealership to get my order in.”

Poisson is a retiree who has no children and has never been married, but he cheekily added, “But I have a lot of girlfriends.”

OLG Slots at Sudbury Downs General Manager Todd Hilton congratulated Poisson on his win.

“It’s always exciting when our patrons win a big jackpot. This huge win will certainly go down in our record books,” said Hilton.

The biggest win at the site prior to this one was in the $90,000 range.
