Staples to close up to 225 stores

Staples Inc. announced March 6 it will close up to 225 stores in North America by 2015.

“As customers shift online, we are taking aggressive action to right-size our retail footprint,” said Madalina Secareanu, a Staples Canada spokesperson, in an email to Northern Life.

“We don’t have additional details to share on specific locations in North America and no specific details, at this time, regarding the Canadian market.”

There are two Staples locations in Sudbury, at 747 Notre Dame Ave. and 1425 Kingsway Rd.

Northern Life will provide an update if either store is affected by the cuts.
