One of the talks will focus on the ways in which court decisions in Canada reinforce existing norms and codes of conduct in the journalistic community. This presentation will take place at 1 p.m. in the Ludger & Amanda Michel University Commons at the University of Sudbury.

The other talk, to be presented at 5 p.m. at the Hour Glass Restaurant, will focus on the unique ethical challenges that emerge for francophone journalists in a minority setting.

An informal dinner with the guest speaker will take place after the second talk.

“Dr. Bernier’s comments will stimulate debate about ethics and the challenges particular to the experience of French-language journalism in a minority setting, in Sudbury and throughout northern Ontario,” said Jamie Robertson, administrator of the University of Sudbury’s Ethics Centre.
