Presence at Ron Dupuis event not an endorsement: Peroni

“The event was an opportunity for Peroni to hear the views and priorities of a mayoral candidate in Greater Sudbury,” the email said. “Northern Life reported in error that this was a show of support for Mr. Dupuis.

Sudbury PC candidate Paula Peroni says while she attended the launch of his campaign Tuesday, she's not endorsing Ron Dupuis for mayor. File photo.
“The event was an opportunity for Peroni to hear the views and priorities of a mayoral candidate in Greater Sudbury,” the email said. “Northern Life reported in error that this was a show of support for Mr. Dupuis.”

In fact, Peroni is quoted as saying she will attend any news conference called by any candidate for the mayor's job, as long as she's invited.

“I love my city and for that reason I attended Ron Dupuis' press conference this morning where he announced he will be running for mayor.” Paula said. “I will be attending all mayoral candidate announcements (if invited) to stay informed.”

However, she says that shouldn't be confused with supporting any particular candidate. She's just trying to learn more about the people who are running to lead the city.

“(It's) my way of getting to know these candidates and to make an informed decision when I cast my vote for mayor on Oct. 27,” Peroni is quoted as saying in the release.

“I will continue to get to know these candidates as should all Sudburians so we, as a community, elect the best person for the job.”
