The results are in and once again, NorthernLife.ca has been named one of Canada's top community news websites.

Newspapers Canada announced today the winners of its annual Canadian Community Newspaper Awards.

NorthernLife.ca was pleased to learn that it was ranked No. 1 (circulation 12,500 and up category) by the judges. The paper placed third in the category last year, but first in 2012, and we were eager to reclaim the top spot.

Rounding out the category were The Now, covering the B.C. communities of Surrey, North Delta and White Rock, in second place, and the St. Albert Gazette of St. Albert, AB, in third.

The staff of NorthernLife.ca works hard to provide the best in local news coverage, delivered in a timely fashion, several times a day.

We would like to thank our readers and our advertisers for their continued patronage. Obviously, we couldn't have achieved this without your ongoing support, so our thanks and appreciation to you.

In other awards news, NorthernLife.ca has been nominated in four categories — including best website — in the Better Newspapers Competition sponsored by the Ontario Community Newspapers Association.

The results of that competition will be made public later next week.
