Rebecca Johnston returned home on April 15 to Sudbury to share her gold medal with the folks at Independent Living Sudbury Manitoulin.

Johnston, who played forward on the gold-medal-winning Canadian Olympic women's hockey team at the Sochi Olympics this past Feburary, took time to pose for photos and signed autographs for excited fans. She also signed an Olympic flag that will hang at Independent Living Sudbury on Durmham Street.

This is the second gold medal for 24-year-old Johnston. She won her first with Team Canada in Vancouver in 2010, along with another Sudbury native, Tessa Bonhomme.

Johnston had a goal and two assists in the tournament opener, a 5-0 win over Switzerland and added another goal in the team's 3-0 win over Finland.
