Olivier wins nomination, will be Liberal candidate in June 12 vote

He has been a quadriplegic since 1994, when he was involved in a hockey accident.

“But, with the love and support of friends, family, health care professionals and teachers, Andrew was determined to make a difference,” reads the biography on Olivier’s website. “He went onto to become Valedictorian of his graduating class, then earned his Honours Bachelors of Commerce from Laurentian University with a concentration on policy management.”

He also holds an MBA from Laurentian with a concentration on human resources/marketing and has worked as a peer support worker for the Canadian Paraplegic Association and is an ambassador for the Rick Hansen Foundation.

“He feels blessed to have the support of his partner Lisa and her beautiful daughter, Dawson, as well as from so many friends and family on both the Francophone and Italian sides of his family tree,” his biography concludes.

Olivier will face Joe Cimino, the city councillor running for the NDP, school board trustee Paula Peroni, who’s running for the Progressive Conservatives, and Casey Lalonde, a Laurentian University student running for the Green Party.

Former Northern Development and Mines Minister Rick Bartolucci has held the seat for the Liberals since 1995. He announced his retirement shortly after Premier Kathleen Wynne won the race to replace Dalton McGuinty as Liberal leader in January 2013.
