The sidewalk near the New Sudbury Centre will be more colourful than usual Saturday morning.

Voices for Women, a sexual assault centre supported by Health Sciences North, will host its Chalk Walk at the corner of Lasalle Boulevard and Barrydowne Road Saturday, May 10.

Young women between the ages of 15 and 19, with a group called B3 Girls, will draw images with chalk that promote healthy relationships and denounce sexual violence.
B3 stands for bold, brave, and beautiful.

“The Chalk Walk is a highly visible and friendly way to discuss with people some of the issues and realities of sexual violence,” said Nancy Horan, manager of the Voices For Women Centre, in a release.

“What we want to do is explore some of the myths and misconceptions surrounding sexual abuse, violence, and bullying, but we also want to be positive and talk about healthy relationships so that we can prevent sexual violence and bullying from happening in the first place.”

Voices For Women provides English-language services for women 16 years of age and older who have been victimized by sexual assault and violence. Voices For Women also conducts public education and advocacy to dispel myths surrounding sexual violence.

The Chalk Walk will start at 8 a.m. and will end at noon.
