Hundreds of marathon runners will impact traffic on Sunday: Police

The Sudbury Rocks Marathon for the Canadian Diabetes takes place Sunday, winding its way through the city over a 42-km course.

Greater Sudbury Police Service is advising motorists that traffic will be impacted as a result. Police, COPS volunteers, auxiliary officers and volunteers from North Shore Search and Rescue will assist with traffic control during the race.

All events will be held between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. Roadways included in the course are Elgin Street, Notre Dame, Lasalle Boulevard, Attlee, Gemmell, Falconbridge Highway, Second Avenue, Bancroft and Howey Drive.

Hundreds of runners will fill the streets during this race. Various lanes of traffic will be sectioned off with pylons and police personnel will be stationed along the route to direct traffic.

Delays and inconveniences are expected to be minimal, however, motorists are asked to be mindful of other users of area roadways on Sunday morning during this event.
