Rainfall warning in effect for Sudbury

Heavy rains expected to continue until Friday morning may result in localized flooding in low-lying areas as the ground is already near saturation and has little ability to absorb further rainfall. File photo.

Heavy rain is expected for Sudbury and area beginning after midnight and will continue until Friday morning.

Total rainfall amounts of 50-60 millimetres are expected by Friday morning.

Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible as the ground is already near saturation and has little ability to absorb further rainfall.

Don't approach washouts near rivers, creeks and culverts.

Environment Canada meteorologists will update alerts as required.
