Canadian musical legend Bruce Cockburn is one of those who will receive an honourary degree from Laurentian University during its spring convocation ceremonies next month.

Cockburn — one of the headliners at this year's Northern Lights Festival Boréal — will receive his degree in Sudbury on June 6.

Former Canadian Governor General Michaelle Jean will also receive an honourary degree at Laurentian's Barrie campus May 28.

Laurentian Architecture Steering Committee member Blaine Nicholls, and Laurentian alumna and Masha Krupp Translation Group Ltd. CEO Masha Krupp will also receive honourary doctorates in Sudbury on June 5 and June 6, respectively.

More that 2,000 new Laurentian graduates will be celebrated at the spring convocation ceremonies this season.
