Firefighters managed to get three small fires in a wooded area near the intersection of Clinton Avenue and Perreault Street in the Flour Mill area of Sudbury under control this noon hour.
Platoon chief Terry Laroque said the three fires were within 500 metres of each other and appeared to have been deliberately set.
Northern Life received reports of smoke in the area around noon Friday.
By around 12:30 p.m., firefighters were returning to their vehicles from the wooded area.
Darcy Ross, a resident on Clinton Avenue, said there was also a fire in the same area on Victoria Day.
Ross said people were out celebrating in the wooded area that day and started a small fire.
Laroque said he could not confirm if a fire had occurred in the area Monday, but said it was “quite possible.”
