CrossFit Sudbury has collaborated with the Janis Foligno Foundation for its Battle Beyond the Barbell competition to raise funds for cancer research and family support.

Janis Foligno died in July 2009 after her battle with breast cancer. The foundation in her name has supported a number of charities including the Sudbury Regional Hospital Foundation's Breast Cancer Equipment Fund, the Vale Hospice, Meals on Wheels and the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario.

The power-lifting competition will take place on Saturday June 7 at CrossFit Sudbury, and will feature teams of four competitors – made up of two men and two women – vying for the top spot.

Each team has paid $200 to participate in the competition. All funds go directly to the Janis Foligno Foundation.
