In addition to paying some bills, Randy and Raymonde Addison plan to spend some of $15,000 they won through a national contest with the The Co-operators on a trip to Nashville, Tenn.

The Addisons picked up their cheque for $15,000 on May 27 as the grand-prize winners of a national contest. Nationally, anyone who got an auto, home, life or travel insurance quote from The Co-operators by phone, online through cooperators.ca, or in person at an adviser's office, was entered into a draw.

Raymonde Addison was selected randomly as the grand prize winner, and received her cheque from Sudbury adviser Greg Cantin.

“This will help cover the cost of our trip to Nashville,” Raymonde said after receiving the cheque. “We've been there once before, and we've always wanted to go back.”

She said the fact she won $15,000 still hadn't sunk in, even after she had the cheque in her hands.

“I'm still numb about it,” she said.

The immediacy and easy access to information provided by smartphones has changed the way people do business, said The Co-operators in a news release. When it comes to insurance, many people like to do initial research online, phone an adviser to ask questions, and then make purchases in person.

“People like Raymonde have busy lives and want the choice of connecting with us over the phone, online or in person,” said Cantin. “So we give them the choice to ‘call, click or come in. I’m sure Raymonde’s never been happier to ‘come in’ than she was today.”

The Co-operators is offering another draw for anyone who gets a quote online, by phone or in person, said Steve Stupak, district manager. The contest takes place from coast to coast until April 2015 when The Co-operators will select another random winner of $15,000.
