The website earned the award in the circulation 12,500 and up category.

"At NorthernLife.ca, we take great pride in being the community's news source, and in providing the best choice of news, video and live events," said managing editor Mark Gentili. "As more and more readers turn to the Internet for their news, we strive to be at the forefront of the latest technology and easy-to-navigate design, while providing reliable and credible local news coverage."

Northern Life received more good news as well at the the CCNA awards, held this year in Charlottetown, PEI. Northern Life publisher Abbas Homayed was named CCNA president.

The Canadian Newspaper Association (CNA) and the Canadian Community Newspapers Association (CCNA) are two separate organizations that partnered to create one industry voice for newspapers in Canada. Combined, the two associations represent more than 830 daily, weekly, and community newspapers in every province and territory in Canada.
