A June 18 golf tournament will benefit a local group's efforts to build a school in Rwanda.

Inzira y'Urumuri – Le chemin de la lumiere is attempting to raise $50,000 to build three kindergarten classes and then another $140,000 to build space for grades 1-9 students in the village of Kavumu. The Rwandan village is a two-hour walk away from the nearest school.

The golf tournament, which will be held at the Stone Hill Golf Club on Silver Lake Road, starts at 5 p.m. The $35 entry fee includes nine holes, a motorized cart, dinner and prizes.

To purchase tickets, phone 705-897-7536 or 705-665-4472 or email [email protected] or [email protected].
