As part of its end-of-year science blowout, Cambrian College’s Let’s Talk Science team will visit several local elementary schools during the next two weeks to share ideas and innovation with grade 7 and 8 students.

“Science may be considered intimidating and, as a result, youth may put it on the back burner,” said Catherine Poulton, Cambrian’s Student Success Adviser.

“But the end-of-year blowout is a fun, rewarding and meaningful event as we head into the summer months.”

Let’s Talk Science is a national, award-winning, charitable organization that brings science to students in a fun, hands-on, minds-on way.

Students from Cambrian College and Laurentian University have developed the outreach program, which includes a variety of challenges to engage students in kid-friendly activities that explore science, technology, engineering and math.

Activities include bottle rockets, exploding bags, ice-cream making, a vortex gun and an obstacle race. The program is funded by the School College Work Initiative.
