The Credit Union ran its School Caisse program in 15 area schools this year, holding a draw for a bike draw in each participating school.
The School Caisse program is a new method of instilling sound money management skills in kids, Desjardins said in a news release. Participants learn skills such as counting money, calculating a total deposit and filling out a deposit envelope.
The bicycle draw was held in order motivate children to become involved in the program and develop good saving habits.
More than 600 students participated in the 2013-2014 School Caisse program from schools in Sudbury, Oshawa, and Lafontaine, Ont.
