Fifteen lucky students are spending their summers cruising around on a new bike, courtesty of Desjardins Voyageur Credit Union.
And not only do these students have new sets of wheels, they have better money management skills, as well.
The Credit Union ran its School Caisse program in 15 area schools this year, holding a draw for a bike draw in each participating school.
The School Caisse program is a new method of instilling sound money management skills in kids, Desjardins said in a news release. Participants learn skills such as counting money, calculating a total deposit and filling out a deposit envelope.
The bicycle draw was held in order motivate children to become involved in the program and develop good saving habits.
More than 600 students participated in the 2013-2014 School Caisse program from schools in Sudbury, Oshawa, and Lafontaine, Ont.
