As a group, these partners have donated media advertising valued at $365,000.
“I want to thank you for the tremendous support media are providing for the science centres and for this special year,” Science North CEO Guy Labine said at a press conference held at the Big Nickel's home, Dynamic Earth.
“I think this is a great example, today, of how the sum is greater than the parts. Your collective support is increasing our ability to reach potential visitors, and more visitors is key to our success.
“That success translates into benefits for the community and for businesses.”
Northern Life publisher Abbas Homayed said Science North and Dynamic Earth have placed Greater Sudbury on a world stage.
“This place, when it comes to science, family fun and IMAX, it's second to none,” he said.
“At Laurentian media (Northern Life's parent company), it really was natural for us to team with you, and we hope to continue this relationship for years to come.”
The Big Nickel's 50th anniversary celebration takes place July 22, and features activities from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., including a Guinness World Record attempt for the largest coin mosaic, musical entertainment and fireworks.
