"There are many cancers that affect women. What an empowering opportunity to get your girlfriends together to make a difference and have some fun getting dirty!" said Cathy Burns, Sudbury Branch Community Manager.
The Sudbury Branch of the Canadian Cancer Society received almost $93,000 for cancer research through the event and the day gave further opportunities for advocacy and awareness of ovarian, uterine, cervical and breast cancer.
Last year, 7 clinic trials were offered in Sudbury to patients facing cancer, or people at high risk of developing the disease, providing them with the chance to be involved in leading edge approaches that could offer the best chances of survival. The trials involved breast, colorectal, lung and uterine cancers.
