Firefighter, civilian injured in Garson apartment fire

A resident of an eight-unit apartment complex on O'Neil Drive in Garson was injured while escaping a fire on Sept. 7, said Greater Sudbury Fire Services.

A resident of an eight-unit apartment complex on O'Neil Drive in Garson was injured while escaping a fire on Sept. 7, said Greater Sudbury Fire Services.

The resident was taken to Health Sciences North for treatment, but the extent of the injuries is unknown. A total of 15 people were evacuated.

One firefighter received minor injuries.

The fire was contained to one apartment unit with minor smoke and water damage to other portions of building. Damage is estimated at $250,000. Three people are displaced as a result.

The cause of the fire has yet to be determined.
