Canadian Mental Health Association dedication to Jean Hanson

A plaque created to commemorate the honour, reads: “Jean's commitment to the mental health of all persons living in our communities will never be forgotten.

A plaque created to commemorate the honour, reads:

“Jean's commitment to the mental health of all persons living in our communities will never be forgotten. Devoted to her governance responsibilities from her first meeting to her final months, the impact of the positive changes Jean led is a legacy individuals with mental illness will benefit from for years to come.”

Hanson died at Maison Vale Hospice on Feb. 3, 2014.

She had a 40-year career in education in which she served as a teacher, special education consultant, principal, superintendent, and as director of education with the Rainbow District School Board for a six-year period.

In her retirement, she became involved in raising money for the United Way Sudbury and Nipissing Districts, and sat on a number of boards.
