Council debates begin tonight with Ward 1 meeting

The first of 12 ward debates kick off tonight, with the eight candidates running in Ward 1 squaring off at the Caruso Club on Haig Street beginning at 7.

Matt Alexander, Denis Ferron, Mathieu Labonté, Sidney Shapiro, Mark Signoretti, Paul Soucie, Chris Spry and Tom Trainor are all running to replace Joe Cimino, the former councillor who won the June provincial election in Sudbury for the NDP.

The debates are sponsored by the Greater Sudbury Taxpayers Association. Admission is free.
