A Greater Sudbury firefighter and two civilians were injured Sept. 28 after fire ripped through a semi-detached home on Grenadier Drive in Sudbury.

Six people are now displaced after having to be evacuated from the homes. The fire caused about $400,000 in damage after 17 firefighters battled the flames.

Careless smoking is the leading cause of fire deaths, said Greater Sudbury Fire Services. Encourage smokers to smoke outside. Never smoke in bed. Use large, deep ashtrays that can't be easily knocked over.
