Because the Salvation Army recently cancelled its local community meal program, due to kitchen renovations, Soullière expects the strain on the kitchen to be even greater as the weather cools.

“We have to pick up the slack,” he said.

The concert featured local acts CDK, On Tap, Chicks With Picks, Giant Rabbits, and country singer Mike Trudel.

While the crowd at the fundraiser was still quite small by 8 p.m., Soullière said every little bit helps those in need of a warm meal.
