Sudbury MP Glenn Thibeault's constituency office in Greater Sudbury is closed after Parliament was locked down this morning when a gunman shot a soldier at the Canadian War Memorial.

Richard Eberhardt, parliamentary assistant to Thibeault, said the message came down to close down the constituency offices, but couldn't say why. He said he was watching anxiously with the rest of the nation as events unfold in Ottawa.

“Our constituency office is closed, but I can't speak to other offices,” he told NorthernLife.ca. “Our thoughts are with the MPs and our friends. Everyone we know is safe.”

Eberhardt said he is keeping an eye on his Twitter feed, and while the information he is getting isn't necessarily the most reliable, it is the most current.

“We are just waiting for further instruction,” he said.

Once the situation is settled, NorthernLife.ca will be talking with Thibeault for an update.
