The father of three has practised law for 32 years in a bilingual practice, with experience in family and criminal courts, as well as representing children before the courts.

Guimond is well known for his community involvement with United-Way Centraide, as well as having been chair of the Youth Centre (Centre des Jeunes), said a news release. He is a founding member of Cinéfest and Foyer Notre Dame (shelter for Youth), and he serves the community with the Northern Lights Festival Boréal for the past five years.

Guimond has led and organized for 20 years student and adult volunteers in building shelters for needy families in the inner cities of Kingston, Jamaica.

“Helping the people of Nickel Belt by representing and advocating on their behalf has been one of the building blocks in my life,” he said in a news release.

“I have dealt with real people and real problems. Like many in Nickel Belt, I see the need for change and improvements in Ottawa. That process begins with electing a Liberal government. I want to represent the people of Nickel Belt in that new team and build a better Canada. We have gone far too long without solid and effective representation in Ottawa.”
