On Wednesday, several classes from Sudbury’s École catholique Félix-Ricard will walk over more than 600 items they have collected in support of the Infant Food Bank.

In recent weeks, École catholique Félix-Ricard students have been collecting a variety of items for infants, including food such as milk formula, juice, cereal, snacks and diapers, as well as gates, fitted sheets, car seats, mattresses, batteries and gift cards.

Benefiting from the drive’s contagious synergy, students from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 8 responded with passion to this initiative calling on solidarity for the benefit of the community’s infants.

This sharing activity is directly linked to the incorporation of the Covey “The Leader in Me” Program, inspired by the Seven habits of highly effective people, to the school’s regular learning program.

The Infant Food Bank is a not for profit charitable organization, funded solely by individual donations and food cards from the Sudbury Food Bank. It's also at the heart of the “All I Need for Christmas” campaign, which is marking its sixth year on Wednesday.

This year, the program will be launched at the Holiday Inn with a number of guests including Mayor Marianne Matichuk and Infant Food Bank executive director Dedee Flietstra.

The Infant Food Bank provides practical support to families twice monthly as a relief program when times get tough. Supplies available include baby food, BPA-free bottles, formula, milk, diapers, wipes, clothing and more.

There are currently over 800 families actively registered. The Infant Food Bank and Pregnancy Care Centre of Sudbury, is located at 1032 Lasalle Blvd. With this campaign, the IFB hopes to provide for its record number of families throughout the holidays and all winter long.
