Winter making its return tonight

A special weather statement is in effect for Greater Sudbury, with rainy and mild weather today followed by a quick return to winter tonight. Rain is expected to change to snow near midnight, about two to four centimetres.

Rain is expected to change to snow near midnight, about two to four centimetres. The overnight low will drop to -4C.

Tuesday, about five to 10 centimetres of snow is predicted, ending early in the evening. The high for the day will be -3C and the low -9C.

Driving conditions are expected to become hazardous tonight as the precipitation changes over to snow. Untreated surfaces may become icy and slippery as the temperature drops below the freezing mark tonight. Low visibilities may also occur in snow and local blowing snow.
