Sudbury's Regional Business Centre has launched a new program to help young entrepreneurs expand their businesses.

Starter Company, a two-year pilot program for young entrepreneurs between the ages of 18 and 29, who are not returning to school, launched in Sudbury with four local businesses, AEG Designs, Design de Plume, Elite Home Fitness, and Sparkle & Pose.

“The business startup process can be intimidating for new entrepreneurs,” said Judy Benvenuti, a co-ordinator at the Regional Business Centre. “Through the Starter Company Program, ambitious young people with an idea for a business can make that idea a reality and get support through the entire process.”

The four businesses completed the program in the fall of 2014, and each received $5,000 in capital funding.

The Regional Business Centre accepts applications for the program on an ongoing basis. The deadline for the next program session is Dec. 31, 2014.
