The Greater Sudbury Physical Activity and Recreation Roundtable (GSPARR) has launched a new campaign, called Play Greater Sudbury, to promote affordable and accessible play for all ages.

The campaign encourages community members to explore their surroundings and discover new ways to play.

“We know that being physically active provides physical and mental health benefits for all age groups,” said Nastassia McNair, a health promoter with the Sudbury and District Health Unit and chair of GSPARR, in a press release.

“Unfortunately, many of us are unaware of how and where to access recreation that is both affordable and accessible. By raising awareness of the existing opportunities for play in Greater Sudbury, the GSPARR’s new website can help local residents to kick start an affordable and accessible healthy lifestyle.”

The Play Greater Sudbury website, www.PlayGreaterSudbury.ca, offers a number of ideas to encourage play in the community. The website features an idea bank and universal play resources to help users find low-cost or free activities, year-round. The site also acts as a resource to educate on the importance of play and physical activity.
