The Rogers Hometown Hockey Festival hits Minto Street in Greater Sudbury on Dec. 6 and Dec. 7.

To accommodate anticipated demand, the City of Greater Sudbury is extending shuttle hours between the Sudbury Arena and the south York Street Parking Lot to 11 p.m. on Friday and Sunday.

Parking near Sudbury Arena will be limited on the evening of Dec. 5 for festival set-up in the Brady/Minto parking lot. Fans cheering on the Sudbury Wolves (who take on the Oshawa Generals tonight) are encouraged to take advantage of shuttle service from 6-11 p.m. from the south York Street lot, across from the Bell Park entrance, to the main entrance of the Sudbury Arena.

Shuttles run every 20 minutes and are free of charge.

Free parking and shuttle service are also available Dec. 6 from noon to 10 p.m. for patrons of the Sudbury Theatre Centre’s matinee and evening productions of "Miracle on 34th Street" and the Rogers Hometown Hockey Festival which runs from noon to 6 p.m. on Saturday.

Shuttle hours are again extended Dec. 7 from noon to 11 p.m. to accommodate a free, outdoor game party hosted live by Ron MacLean from the Sportsnet Mobile Broadcast Studio. The pre-game show begins at 6:30 p.m. leading up to the Vancouver Canucks versus the Ottawa Senators on a giant outdoor screen.

The Rogers Hometown Hockey Festival starts at noon on both Saturday and Sunday. Events are being updated daily, including appearances by Darryl Sittler and Brian Savage with live entertainment by the Puckhogs at hometownhockey.com.

Motorists are reminded that parking is restricted on Grey Street, Elgin Street, the west side of Shaughnessy Street (Sudbury Theatre Centre side), Romanet Lane and other areas posted as prohibited parking to ensure unobstructed access for emergency vehicles.

Illegally parked vehicles will be ticketed and may be towed if blocking emergency access.
