The Human League brought in $5,200 for its Breakfast Club for Kids and PLAY programs through its Fill 'Er Up fundraiser.
From Dec. 8-12, volunteers at various Esso gas stations provided full service to patrons while raising funds.
For their efforts, Esso donated $.02/litre to the Human League – double what they donated last year.
The Regent Street Esso finished in first place, raising just over $1,500 this year; however, all stations greatly increased their average donations over last year’s totals.
“The fuel prices were down, but donations were way up this year,” said Leanne Lavoie, executive director. “We are once again humbled by the generosity of our local citizens, but truly, it was the staff of our local Esso stations who made this year’s campaign the best one yet.”
The Human League provides funding to schools with breakfast programs, and helps to feed more than 16,000 local children daily.
The PLAY program has assisted more than 400 families in 2013 by subsidizing the cost of equipment and registration for extra-curricular activities for youth.
