Noah and Emma top baby names in Northern Ontario

Noah and Emma were the most popular names for boys and girls, respectively, in Northern Ontario in 2013. Friday morning, the province released its list of the most popular baby names last year.

Friday morning, the province released its list of the most popular baby names last year.

Olivia and Liam topped the list for the most popular baby names province-wide that year.

There were 834 Liams born in Ontario in 2013, and 969 Olivias.

Further down the list were a number of names inspired by popular televisions shows.

The popular show “Sons of Anarchy”, about a tight-knit outlaw motorcycle club, inspired 70 parents to name their baby boys Jax. The show also inspired 58 Gemmas and 48 babies named Abel.

The critically acclaimed show “Breaking Bad”, about a high school chemistry teacher who starts cooking meth to help support his family, inspired 104 babies named Skylar, 87 Jesses and 18 baby Walters.
