Cambrian students want your empties

Between Christmas dinners and New Year’s Eve parties, beer and wine bottles pile up faster than you can say Bah, Humbug. Forget carting those empties back to the LCBO or tossing them in your recycling bin.

Between Christmas dinners and New Year’s Eve parties, beer and wine bottles pile up faster than you can say Bah, Humbug.

Forget carting those empties back to the LCBO or tossing them in your recycling bin. Cambrian’s dental hygiene and nursing students are hosting a bottle drive on Jan. 2. With a quick email, you can get those bottles out of your house and help the students raise money for their humanitarian trip to Costa Rica.

This April, a group of eight bachelor of science nursing and eight dental hygiene students will be travelling to Costa Rica to provide dental services to those in need and, at the same time, enhance their skills and knowledge through hands-on clinical experiences.

During the mission, they will be active members of a multidisciplinary team working with licensed health professionals from VIDA Volunteer in the rural communities of Los Chiles and Liberia.

Students are fundraising to cover their costs, which include accommodations, clinical experiences, meals, local transportation, airfare and insurance.

To have your empties picked up on Jan. 2, email Vanessa Daypuk at [email protected].
